Capital One Bank has launched a social campaign to salute Kennedy Center Mark Twain for American Humor recipient Carol Burnett. The company is asking people to tweet, post on Instagram, or upload on a Facebook app shots of themselves laughing with the hashtag #sharealaugh. Yesterday, today, and Saturday a truck displaying the laughing faces of entrants is canvassing DC, and local comedians are showing up to make people laugh. Library Lagniappe: Pumpkin Bowl

One of Loyola’s most popular Fall events used to be the women’s intramural Powder Puff game, sometimes called the Pumpkin Bowl. The competing teams were the freshmen/senior Hell Kats and the sophomore/junior Heavenly Scents, and the coaches were male Loyola students or, sometimes, Saints players. “King Puff” and his court were crowned at halftime. Unfortunately interest in the game, which at one time drew 2500 fans to Audubon Park, waned in the 1970s and the tradition ceased.

- David Pogue, longtime personal technology columnist at The New York Times, explains why he is leaving the newspaper to help launch a consumer tech site at Yahoo. (via prweek)
